Hi, we are so glad you are here.
We’re the Hales—a big, joyful, fun loving family with a deep love for old-fashioned ways, homemade bread, porch-swing conversations, and a home filled with the love of God.
Neither of us were raised in the country or taught to live in a homestead type self-sufficient way. We were city folks, and are grateful for the city life. But, navigating the noise of modern life, we felt the Lord gently call us to something different—something simpler. Over the years, we’ve chased dreams, answered callings, and followed passion projects that led us through ministry, military service, nursing, culinary school, and becoming certified Biotic Pro’s. Each path brought us closer to our mission: learning to nourish our family in body, mind, and spirit—and inviting others to do the same.
Homeschooling has become the heart of our daily rhythm. Teaching our children deep biblical truths, old-fashioned skills, and practical wisdom is the joy of our lives. From gardening in a tiny backyard to baking bread for the farmers market and milling fresh grains for our pantry business, we’re learning what it means to homestead wherever God places us. That’s the heartbeat behind The Hales Homestead—you don’t need land to live rooted.
We’ve walked through health challenges, learned hard lessons in self-reliance, and discovered the beauty of slow growth. Our bakery, The Wax Seal Pantry, was born from that journey—a desire to serve nourishing, traditional foods to our community with care and intention.
Alongside our homestead-ish life, we’re also a husband-and-wife real estate team, helping families find not just a house—but a home. Whether it’s a farmhouse, a suburban backyard garden, or an urban balcony brimming with herbs, we believe homesteading is a heart posture, not a zip code. The heart posture of serving our families, communities & the Lord.
We’ve graduated our first homeschooler, now studying audio engineering in college, and we continue to pour into our children as they grow. Every day is a mix of flour-dusted counters, compost buckets, and grace upon grace. We’re still learning, still growing—and always aiming to make our home a place of welcome, worship, and wonder.
Home is our greatest ministry.
And we believe that when it's built on love, it becomes the sweetest place on earth.
